Problem Solvers for People, Place and Productivity
Following a year of reflection on our expertise – exploratory meetings, hundreds of events, hosting focus groups and even participating in Good Ideas Catalyst in November – we are delighted to introduce our new consultancy.
Our consultancy was initially motivated by a vision to share our experience of building successful coworking spaces in Scotland. This service developed strong relationships with rural community hubs, which allowed us to think more broadly around the role of coworking as a tool for places with purpose. We found places where people were connecting over common values and over heritage, sharing new ideas and working as productively as they could with limited resources.
Then, Helen and I spent a day thinking in a hiding spot in The Melting Pot. And it hit us: people, place and productivity were at the core of building places with purpose.
So, what problems can we solve?
Well, the question should really be, what problems will we solve together? From fifteen years of delivering our Good Ideas incubator, we know that the people who have navigated social and environmental issues are best placed to solve those issues. Solving problems within Scottish businesses is no different. Some of the feedback from our pilot has reiterated this:
“Jess made me feel like she was literally holding my brain for me so that I could think differently within the team. We were safe, creative and honest about our ‘people’ problem.”
Whether it’s around creating inclusive cultures and diverse teams for new partnerships (our people theme), enhancing the use of physical place and creative space among your coworkers (our place theme), or boosting productivity through the refinement of processes and workflows (our productivity theme), there’s something that we can do to enhance your business goals for 2025.
So what? What makes our consultancy different?
There are two reasons. The first is that we’re delivering our consultancy with a pool of experienced consultants that we have known for most of our 17 years. We know them, the way they work and their commitment to the social innovation ecosystem.
The second reason is our Places with Purpose restricted fund. Remember those rural partners we worked with to deliver coworking advice to? As it happens, we’re still in touch, and they need our support more than ever to become sustainable We’ll support them to recognise their work as part of Scotland’s fabric of innovation.
And, actually, there’s a third reason. We’ve been delivering similar projects since we opened in 2007. We’ve helped organisations across sectors work more effectively as teams, build new relationships and enhance mindsets for productivity.
Sounds great, how can I get involved?
If you like what you hear, then I ask just one thing of you: to keep us in mind when you’re debating how to improve your culture, when you could do more with your office space, or when you feel that your internal processes need a shake-up. Maybe you just want us to facilitate some team reflection time when you’ve had a year bustling with events and new projects. Contact me using the details below for an informal 30-minute chat to find out whether we’re the right for you.
In the next few months, you’ll start to see content from our pilot projects and research projects. Keep an eye out on our social media for these or join our quarterly newsletter mailing list.
If you’re sceptical, that’s fine too, we can make friends slowly! You can sample some of our consultancy tools at our taster event in May 2025, details to be announced. Keep your eyes peeled for more blogs about the topics we’re exploring with our clients.
