Here’s a lovely example of collaboration in action: Remade in Edinburgh (of our 2012/13 Incubation programme) are preparing to open the Edinburgh Remakery: a centre where people can learn to fix computers, furniture and clothes, rent workspace, and buy affordable, ethical computers and furniture. And they’ve had some able assistance towards the project by none other than recent Incubation graduates Edinburgh Tool Library and Upcycled World!

A partnership project with Edinburgh University and CHAI, the Edinburgh Remakery is the result of five years’ hard work towards their wider vision of a zero waste Edinburgh, where everyone has skills to fix household things and goods are designed to last in the first place. By expanding our sales and donations of unwanted and broken goods this year we are set to divert 200 tonnes of waste to landfill.

The opening will be announced soon so keep your eyes peeled and follow their Facebook page for updates, but if you’d like to help out in putting the finishing touches on the space in the meantime feel free to email [email protected]. The more the merrier!
