Since 2011 our acclaimed Good Ideas Academy* has supported 57 founders to deliver their socially innovative ideas.
Over the years, the programme has supported creative organisations such as Tinderbox and Vox Liminis; environmental enterprises such as Green Aspirations and Remade Edinburgh; and social campaign initiatives such as Fathers Network Scotland and the Reward Foundation.
Our founders’ success is measured in their businesses growth and social impact made.
A long-term study into the first 20 social enterprises we supported showed, 12 months after programme completion: turnover had grown from £148,252 to £484,400, staff increased from 9 to 33 and beneficiaries increased from 2,060 to 11,380.
Check out the Evaluation of our 2012-14 Alumni which provides further case studies and useful insights into the programme.
Here are just a couple of examples of our alumni talking about their organisations and the difference they make.

The personal impact of the support, knowledge and skills participants gain cannot be underestimated.
Here are just a few things our Alumni have to say:
“It gives you invaluable knowledge, contacts and confidence. It’s very important for a programme like this to exist for social enterprises.”
“The really important strength is it balances making money and making a difference.”
“The support, knowledge and skills received on the programme have been invaluable and have really helped us shape and move forward our social enterprise. The peer group formed has also been great and we look forward to continuing to support each other.”
