Shaun Bickley has extensive field experience managing humanitarian relief programmes in conflict-prone areas including Afghanistan, Chechnya, Liberia, Pakistan and Sudan. He is an independent consultant and trainer to international humanitarian and development organisations, advising on staff security and safety issues, strengthening organisational risk management provision, developing guidance and training materials, and providing training to staff.
He has worked with a wide variety of agencies including Save the Children, Medecins sans Frontieres - Holland, British Red Cross, Oxfam GB, Christian Aid, Plan International, Merlin, VSO, RedR UK and EISF.
He is the author of a number of security publications including ‘Safety First: A Safety and Security Handbook for Aid Workers’ and DG ECHO’s ‘NGO Security Collaboration Guide’.
