Even our menu is low carbon!
At The Melting Pot we strive to supply high quality food that doesn’t cost the earth. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by supporting small local businesses rather than large corporations. We choose suppliers with high ethical standards; people whose ingredients are organic, fair-trade or locally sourced.
Sooop supplies us with fresh homemade soups, salads and fruit platters. She sources her ingredients from local producers as well as choosing organic and fair trade wherever possible. She can provide meat, veggie and vegan options; all of which are refreshingly delicious. If you would like more information about Sooop please contact our events team.
Garvald Edinburgh, an innovative social enterprise, provides the bread for our soup. They help people with learning disabilities improve their confidence and realise their potential. The bread is locally sourced, wholegrain and freshly made on the morning of your event.
Empires Café supplies our mouth-watering authentic Turkish Meze. Home made using locally sourced fresh ingredients the Meze contains a vegan and vegetarian selection but a meat or seafood option can be added upon request. The dishes combine to provide a traditional Turkish feast that is tasty and filling.
Broughton Deli provides us with a delicious range of meat, vegetarian and vegan baguettes on freshly baked bread. They use organic and free-range ingredients as much as possible. To help reduce their carbon footprint they source fresh local ingredients and even deliver to The Melting Pot by foot!
Pete’s Farm Shop brings us fresh non-homogenised organic milk in reusable glass bottles straight from the farm. The cows are milked each morning at Orchard Farm Dairy (one of the few traditional farms still pasteurising and bottling their own milk).
GreenCity Wholefoods, a non-exploitative community co-operative, supplies all of our teas, coffees, biscuits etc. GreenCity supplies Scottish businesses with over 4000 different products, all of which are vegetarian and GM-free, with a large proportion also being Vegan, Fair-Trade, Gluten Free and Organic.
