Claire Carpenter, Founder and Managing Director

Claire is uniquely qualified to initiate, lead and sustain this project. She is an eco-social entrepreneur with over 15 years' experience of working within the More-than-profit sector in Edinburgh / Scotland at many levels of the 'community interface'. Claire brings expertise in project and organisational development including: leadership, research and evaluation, volunteer management, bespoke course organisation, facilitation and tuition. She is an avid and generous networker creating connections that help build sustainable empowered communities. She is a graduate and Fellow of the Centre for Human Ecology.

John Cant

John has been a computer software consultant for the past 25 years. He has worked as professor of physics in California, as a consultant in the heart pace maker industry (Australia, UK, France). John now focuses on working with non-profits and is / has been a member of the management team / board of WWOOF - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, Partners in Advocacy, The Mountain Bothies Association, and Living Water Ecosystems. John is also co-founder of a well-known permaculture centre in S.W. France (stirring plum jam, right). John brings his interest and experience in business and computer systems to help ground the inspiration of The Melting Pot.

James Wilson

James has had an active and hands-on involvement in the world of small-scale educational organizations for over seventeen years, and has brought a wide range of skills to the Melting Pot. His commitment to careful planning, target setting and structural development is a real source of strength within our organization, and his expertise in creative problem-solving, communications, staff training and client care have been of real significance in the evolution of the project. James is also one of the Trustees of The Rock Trust - a charity devoted to providing support for young homeless men and women, and has a strong and deep-seated commitment to the ideals of the Social Economy.

Chris Horne

Chris leads Pilotlight Scotland, a charity that uses the skills of senior business people to coach charities and social enterprises. Chris brings sales and narketing, organisational development and management skills to The Melting Pot.

Jenni Inglis

Jenni is an independent consultant, who is also a Director of the SROI Network. Jenni does SROI analysis with public and third sector organisations and market research into public service markets.

Lauren Scott

Lauren has over six years' experience working as a solicitor for Morton Fraser. She specialises in corporate law and also sits on the firm's charities team. She has a broad range of experience advising charitable and other not-for-profit organisations

Richard Thomas

Richard is a senior police officer with over twenty years' experience of business and management in charitable, private and public sector organisations. Richard brings expertise in leadership, performance management, and working as a team across organisational boundaries.

Verity Leigh

General Manager

Verity joined The Melting Pot in June 2009. She'd previously worked in arts management, mostly in the independent theatre sector, helping companies to grow and develop sustainably. She's enjoying applying these skills to her work at The Melting Pot and getting to know a new sector, a new city and a diverse bunch of interesting new people.

 

Kerr Brodie Events Co-ordinator

Kerr is the main events co-ordinator for The Melting Pot and ensures all meetings & workshops held here receive top quality service.  Starting her role in June 2009, Kerr has implemented vast improvements to the booking process as well as the physical presentation of the rooms.  In her spare time she is learning about film editing and enjoys organising movie nights for all her friends and colleagues.

 

Marie Duguid Members Host / Administrator

Marie joined The Melting Pot team in June 2009 and is responsible for managing all the membership administration, co-ordinating all members events, and writing the bi-monthly e-bulletin and other social media outlets for The Melting Pot.  In her spare time Marie enjoys pilates, reading, watching rugby and supporting community development / green issues.

Ian Baxter Book keeper

Ian has been involved in environmental issues for 30 years and is currently treasurer of the Scottish Greens. Other interests include travelling, walking and organic gardening.
